From the minute Max picked us up till the final airport drop off, the planning of the tour was very effective. No time wasted between destinations, only stopping for a refill of cookies, making sure we experience the maximum from each location, to catch the most conditions, and give in field guidance on what to look for to create good compositions. Max was attentive to everyone’s steps and would give advice to improve, and unsurprisingly, I personally noticed my photography skills develop on the spot. Max would share his extensive experience and philosophy about photography, which still serve as motivation and lesson for my hobby. Altogether, these elements made the trip the most memorable to date I have been on. When do we go back?
This photo tour in Senja was an awesome experience to say the least! We were ALWAYS in the right spot at the right time to shoot the midnight sun lighting up the clouds and magnificent fjords. I can't wait to go on another tour again!!
The Senja tour was a fantastic experience, that went beyond just photography! It had incredible moments, enjoying nature’s raw beauty, having fun, and pushing the limits at times. We had rough weather conditions, which made the camping and hiking quite memorable, but it made us discover some of the most beautiful places of Norway under dramatic light that could only happen with such weather. Since this trip I didnt stopped anymore when facing this kind of weather. It was guided by Marco Grassi, which is very kind and considerate, in addition to being a super mountain guide. Thanks guys for those great memories!!
The Senja tour was incredible. This was my first dedicated photography trip and will not be my last! The views from all of the spots we visited were breathtaking and were well researched. Marco had intimate knowledge of the locations and was able to help find great compositions in the vast area. The trip also had the perfect amount of flexibility in the schedule that allowed us to change which locations we were visiting and how long we stay at each in order to optimize our chances of catching the best light. This tour was also the most hiking id ever done in a single stretch of time and anyone looking to do this tour should make sure they are ready to hike! The locations we went to were places that I would have never thought to visit on my own and I am greatly looking forward to the next tour that I can book.
SENJA SUMMER TOUR
ONCE IN A LIFETIME ADVENTURE IN THE FAR NORTH
You’re invited to join Marco Grassi on this six-day Senja tour, during which you will get to visit the most amazing locations in Senja. You’ll get to hike up mountains and enjoy remarkable views of surrounding areas and rugged peaks. On this tour, we’ll also shoot breathtaking lakes, many amazing waterfalls, the beautiful Norwegian fjords and the dramatic Scandinavian weather.
Post processing sessions will be held during and after the tour, and you’ll receive a record of the sessions and all the official videos from Max Rive Photography.

Personal Processing Sessions
Personal Processing Sessions
Learn the latest post processing techniques during our processing masterclass.
No later than 10 AM we’ll pick you up from Evenes Airport or your nearby accommodation. After we meet, we’ll begin the 3.5-hour drive to our first location. Along the way, we’ll stop for coffee, snacks, and a bathroom break.
Our first camp site is easy to reach from where we’ll park. It will follow a small unknown hiking trail that will lead us to our amazing campsite and viewpoint over the fiords. We’ll put up tents and shoot around base camp. At sunset, our group will choose between a 400 or 600 meter ascent. Each offer captivating views, and we’ll shoot the most amazing ones for both sunset and sunrise.
Images Day 1
Day 2 and 3
After our sunrise shoot and a well-deserved breakfast, we’ll hike down and drive to a nearby cafe for our first post processing session and coffee. Then, we’ll stop at a supermarket before starting our 45 minute hike to the next camp site. This one is located near a ridge with an overview of Segla. This mountain is not exactly unknown (anymore) but for a good reason – it is one of the most photogenic mountains in Scandinavia. With a vertical mountain wall on one side with the fjords just below it. On the other side there is also a fjord and in the distance the views are just as incredible. We’ll shoot this beautiful mountain during the next 2 sunsets and sunrises with multiple different locations to choose from both near and away from our tents. Though the number of locations are plenty – they are all within relatively short reach of our basecamp.
Images Day 2 and 3
Day 4, 5 and 6
During these days, we’ll set up our tents beneath the best high vantage point in Senja. This hike is about 45 minutes to the campsite, and from there, it’ll be about 40 minutes to the summit. From the summit view we are surrounded by the beautiful fjords and vertical mountains Senja is known for. There is no other place in the world where you can reach such an spectacular view which is only 700 meters above sea level though is more spectacular than many views in the high Himalayas.
As we hike down the mountain to the cars, we’ll stop at numerous areas for photos. Although the hiking might be done, we’ll still drive to some nice locations to shoot. After this, it’s time to say goodbye and drop everyone off at the airport/accommodation.
