I purchased the White Mountain video and was so impressed that I purchased 2 additional videos (Mountain Paradise and Digital Scouting with Google Earth). He has a meticulously thought out plan that he walks you through, explaining the “how and why” of what he is doing on each step. His use of color separation, color balance, light painting and his Unique Contrast Control technique results in an insane 3D effect! My images have definitely taken a major step forward, thanks Max!

Max, having long been a fan of your photography, I decided to purchase the White Mountain to learn more Photoshop editing techniques. I have been using Photoshop for approximately 10 years, and your editing tutorial taught me incredible methods and techniques that I never knew existed! I sincerely appreciate that you willingly share some of your Photoshop editing secrets, and look forward to using such to further improve all of my future photography!

The unique techniques in the White Mountain editing tutorial excels in simplicity by only making use of a few tools. No confusing layer masks or luminosity masks but a unique workflow which creates 3D looking images! I highly recommend Max’s editing tutorials and this White Mountain course in particular, to anyone who is interested in landscape photography. I bet if you try to learn his techniques by yourself, you will definitely need 10+ years!

The tutorial is so damn inspiring! Love the color contrast technique so much! It helps me a lot in post processing stage.

Had the opportunity to look at some of Max's tutorials, and those were the real game changer. He use to process his images with a unique technique, that can be re-applied to every kind of workflow, adapt for beginners but especially the mid-pros, as the tools used are really basics compared to the luminosity masks and all the other stuff, you're going to understand that with one simple and elementary tool, you can more likely do everything without struggling around dozen of layers.

I purchased the Photoshop tutorial "The White Mountain" and followed the tutorial with great interest and learned a lot of new
things about photo editing. In particular, I was impressed that such an extensive and impressive editing could be done also without a
non-destructive workflow. Many thanks for your inspiring work

I acquired several processing videos from Max Rive and the techniques he used improved my workflow masively. They are very well structured, the explanations are very clear and concise and it shows you the entire process from beginning to end. To anyone who is wondering whether to buy these videos or not, I say: Do not hesitate! They are a treasure, photographically speaking.

Just in these last days I have reviewed several times the two tutorials of Max Rive that I bought" The White Mountain "and" Mountain Paradise "and I realized how powerful are its advanced contrast, three-dimensionality and color correction techniques. I believe that his style is something unique, imitated by many, but without achieving the same amazing results. I recommend to anyone who wants to learn post-production from one of the best landscape photographers today to buy his videos tutorial. You will learn simple techniques, but at the same time able to give soul to your landscape photos

If someone were to ask me in an interview, “who has influenced your photography the most?,” Max Rive’s name would have to be on the top of that list. Being in retirement, I have the luxury of being able to deep-dive exclusively into one topic, and last summer, my topic was Max Rive’s editing tutorials. And I am so glad I invested the time & the money…to listen intently to what he teaches. The upshot of it is, my editing workflow now follows a very similar path to Max’s, even with all the other inputs a landscape photographer receives. I am very grateful for this foundation and inspiration in my own workflow.

I love taking the opportunity and time to learn about the workflows of other photographers. Max is definitely no exception! He has a very unique way of dodging/burning, managing color and creating depth in his images. His videos are very thorough, from start to finish, and he always explains why he's doing something, which is just as important as the how. I highly recommend his videos if you're looking for some fresh ideas to spice up your processing game

I bought and watched almost all of your processing videos. Even though I'm a experienced professional photographer, I learned a lot. The mastering of colors, separation and balance in your work is absolutly at the highest level. Even if you use your own techniques, the end result is always brilliant ! We share the love for mountains, beautiful landscapes in remote areas with some awsome light, and now we also share an engaged processing method, that I mostly learned from your videos...

United KingdomMax's processing videos have all been great! I enjoy working through them as Max tend to explain everything in enough detail for me to understand. I have been able to better understand specific tools in photoshop and more importantly how to use them to create the desired effects. I had long been a fan of Max's style of editing as the images felt a lot like paintings and it was nice to see how Max actually treating them as such. Additionally I like the sense of 'drama' that most of them convey.

I recommend those who are looking to improve their photography, by learning how to properly focus stack, create lighting through dodging and burning, create depth through separation and establishing an impactful scene overall, to check out Max's tutorials. You will not be disapointed.

I watched many other photographer's courses, but when I saw the first session of my dear friend (Max Rive) I finally found what i was looking for because it has a clear and organized style. Editing pictures became easier, and my style developed into the stage of professionalism. Max has a great talent in how to communicate information easily. He was always happy in helping me with information or clarifications, that is why I have a special dear and a fondness for him, and I consider him my dear brother.

I watched "Green Paradise" and "The White Mountain" and I was impressed and conquered! My post-production has improved thanks to his advice and his ultimate color techniques, focus stacking and color painting. Every video is absolutely stunning and easy to understand. Thanks Max for your wonderful work.

The processing tutorials, also the master of visuals lessions helped me a lot to improve my processing skills. They pushed me to learn more and I learned so many new techniques from you, thank you for that Max!

Max’s post processing videos helped improve my landscape photography a lot! What would have taken me potentially years to learn, I was able to grasp and put into my workflow quickly. New ideas, thoughts and techniques to help me scout, capture and then post process images have been so incredibly valuable to my progression. These tutorials for me have been my best investment in progressing as a landscape photographer. I look forward to keep learning from you Max! Keep the content coming. Your fan -Chance Allred

I bought the bundle „paradise mountain + white mountain“. It really helped me to understand the importance of color balance as well as creating depth in photos. Max’s step by step way of editing helped me to pay more attention to little details. Which is necessary to create outstanding photos, I believe. Max got a great eye for those little details and can teach techniques in a simple and understandable way, to bring out the best in your photos. I really can recommend his tutorials.

ItalyI purchased some of your video tutorials and it helped me a lot to improve my post-processing. They show In-depth exlanations of your techniques with many useful tips - it all is very well done!

Max's processing videos have helped me to improve my workflow! I have learned new processing techniques, I love your system, it is unique and it provides a fresh insight into some of the Photoshop tools.

Starting out with limited knowledge of photography and editing in particular, Max's tutorials really helped me to break that learning curve and take my images to a whole new level. As someone who wants to convey that adventurous spirit through photography, nobody exemplifies that better than Max and these tutorials can help you get there. Detailed and easy to follow, not only will you learn a wide range of editing techniques, but also how to think creatively about your images to bring out mood, atmosphere, depth and most importantly, emotion.

Max’s processing videos are a hidden gem to those interested in learning about editing landscape photos. They provide a unique and creative method to processing, which will help take your editing and creative skills to another level. As an amateur landscape photographer, I found it very helpful the way the videos go into every detail from processing the raw image to uploading it on Instagram. Max’s photos are truly a testament to the uniqueness of the processing style

I discovered Max's tutorials for the first time while joining his Patagonia Tour. Max's tutorials are very applicable to all sorts of landscape photography and are especially recommended for those, who want to achieve more dramatic and epic final product impacts. They are based on examples and motives from real life and they gently guide the artist from basic techniques to more progressive approaches. Nowadays every photo I create still contains his knowledge and post production techniques.

Doesn’t matter whether you had the chance to meet Max Rive in person or not. Few minutes of one of his video tutorials and it will feel like you have known him for a long time. Max is friendly, deeply engaging and all his techniques are meticulously explained, step by step. Many of those are now part of my editing workflow. Few words to describe his tutorials? More addictive than Netflix.

The Max Rive Tutorials are the best in the business. Camera RAW.
Camera RAW.
The Camera RAW editing is the first step in the editing process. During this step the creative direction of the photo has to be decided. Think about the White Balance, contrast, dynamic range, colors, softness and more. There are some sliders and options Max recommends using and also some Max will not use on purpose.
When the raw file has overexposed parts, the pixels in that area are have the highest possible brightness level with no other information. Changing the sliders won't help, there is no visible contrast. Having overexposed parts in a raw file is something that can't be fixed. However, Max Rive has found a way to fix these parts in Photoshop.
Overexposed Parts.

Light.
Light.
The Light is one of the most important aspects that will decide the quality of a landscape image. Although the composition is something that has to be decided first, it is the given light that will decide for us if we are happy with the shots. The digital darkroom is seen as an instrument to enhance the light captured by the RAW file a little. With the unique editing techniques in this video, Max goes even further and turns normal light in something extraordinary.

During my first visit to Peru, I hiked past a river which was lined up underneath a mountain. I looked from the valley at the slope of the opposite mountain and saw some trees. I found this spot, in which some trees were framing the mountain and the river. The position of the sun during sunset didn't work, so I decided to wait for sunrise, which resulted in better light. Still, the raw file looked ordinary though I knew it had a lot of potential. I added some light on the (left) side, removed the overexposed clouds above the mountain, added haze, clouds and some vignetting. I also did some color painting on the trees, worked on the separation on the green hills, worked on the red tree trunks, improved the distortion, and created a perfect green summer mood. Overall this tutorial has become one of my favorites because all the techniques work so well together here without getting overcomplicated.
