These Processing Instructional tutorials do NOT use the same processing techniques you see among all 99,9% of landscape photographers. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these – they work and can give incredible results. But after you’ve seen one – others will feel the same. The processing tutorials and techniques on this page from Landscape Photographer of the year Max Rive are different. Max Rive is an autodidact – just like he can find his own locations and unique compositions – he developed his own processing style with over 7300 hours of processing. Max Rive’s advice: ‘’If you are experienced with both photography and post processing, you don’t have to replace your current processing techniques but you can use my techniques to upgrade yours and to get new insights in my creative workflow’’.
Post processing plays a big part in today’s landscape photography. A good processed photo taken with a simple compact can look more impressive than a poorly processed photo taken with a high end DSLR. These instructional videos will bring your post processing skills to the next level – and will outvalue any other investment you can make to improve your photography. Words from Max Rive: ‘’If I had to choose between keeping my current camera but lose all my processing knowledge or keeping all my processing knowledge but use my first compact camera, I would always choose to keep my processing knowledge. In fact, I would not even be sure if people would notice when I change my camera when posting photos on the internet. Investing in your post processing is indeed by far the best investment you can make’’.
Max Rive: ‘’One day I received an email from someone who had bought my videos. He complemented me with the unique processing techniques he learned from it and how it has changed his workflow completely. Thankfully, I receive these compliments many times though this one is worth mentioning because at first, he was not all that enthusiastic. He expected advanced techniques and did not find them that advanced at first sight. Let me tell you why he changed completely in his opinion about my processing techniques. The more technical they get, the more they will distract you from your creativity. Compare it with an artist making a painting. The actual painting itself is nothing more than holding a brush and making strokes on a canvas. Would a painter benefit if this simple process would be made overly complicated? This is exactly how the common post processing techniques are done. They are unnecessary complicated. My techniques do not require much technical knowledge, nor are they difficult to learn and can create the most impressive processing results.’’
WHAT OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS SAY AFTER WATCHING Google Earth Scouting
To sum it up: The tutorials I tried were absolutely worth the money! It was very interesting to see how Max was using google earth to search for new spots and which criterias have to be fulfilled to get epic shots. When I’m now searching for new spots in my surrounding, I always try to include some of these criterias in my composition.
I have purchased the ultimate bundle with Google Earth Scouting and the Peru tutorial and one thing that I love from these tutorials are the how-to plan the shooting part. Most tutorials go straight to the postprocessing and it is fine. But for me is as important to learn how to plan the shooting before you get there and to know how to look for the advantage points for the best compositions. Once you get into the postprocessing my favorite part is how Max controls color and mood through the image. I really enjoyed learning some of the techniques that make his photography so unique.
The tutorial videos provide loads of valuable knowledge not only in post processing, also in finding the right locations and how to work them. Furthermore You learn how to use Your images in the best way for your social media. Form e personally the videos opend up a completely new horizon in post processing. They taught me new techniques and to be more patient and accurate with my processing, to end up with great results. Additionally, the well chosen locations for these tutorial are epic and blow your mind in an instant!
I was just 'okay' at photography until I found Max Rive's processing and Google Earth Scouting video. His easy to follow workflows take a photograph from okay to extraordinary, and have helped a novice like me create some really great photographs and memories from it. I am a social media manager by trade, so this has drastically improved my results at work too. I would highly recommend checking out Max's videos and learning a couple new tips!
Just in these last days I have reviewed several times the two tutorials of Max Rive that I bought" The White Mountain "and" Mountain Paradise + Google Earth Scouting "and I realized how powerful are its advanced contrast, three-dimensionality and color correction techniques. I believe that his style is something unique, imitated by many, but without achieving the same amazing results. I recommend to anyone who wants to learn post-production from one of the best landscape photographers today to buy his videos tutorial. You will learn simple techniques, but at the same time able to give soul to your landscape photos
I am a hobbyist photographer. At the beginning of my photography, I was struggling so much to get a perfect presentable Photo of mine.I tried a lot of youtube videos. For me, nothing worked like my expectations. But your Training videos were simple, new and a great piece of art, that helped me a lot to improve my Photo processing skills, Thanks to Max Rive!
I've loved Max's images on Instragram and was delighted to discover that he offered video tutorials to learn how he had achieved those mystical looks. I've purchased several of his classes by now and learned something new in every one of them: they are incredibly detailed, easy to follow, and fun! They haven't just allowed me to bring out the best in my photos, but also taught me about composition and location scouting. Knowing that I can make my images shine, and will find great places, makes photography more fun for me.
I have purchased several of Max Rive's tutorials over the years and have learned something new from each one. Max has a unique processing style and he offers lots of insight into how he processes each image. While the technical processing sections of the videos are excellent, what I find most useful is hearing him explain why he makes each artistic and creative decision. These artistic principles can be applied to your own images to help you improve your photography. I highly recommend Max's processing videos.
There are a number of different things I like about Max's photography; balance of tones, simplicity in colors and 'oomph' are some. I tried myself for years to apply some of those concepts to my style of photography but failed. Then came the tutorial series from Max which I'm glad I bought and followed. They are well laid out, methodical and explain concepts to execution which I could not have learned myself. Simply they helped me a great deal. I recommend them for anybody who would like to add a creative touch to your photography
What I enjoyed most about Max’s courses is his editing techniques. He helps you to “sculpt” your photo with light so that it has a depth, almost a third dimension. You are drawn in and through the experience of that place, and his instructions are clear and concise enough for anyone to follow and implement. If you want your photos to be more alive with the experience you had when you took the photo, these courses are for you. Thanks Max for helping take may post processing to the next level.
Starting out with limited knowledge of photography and editing in particular, Max's tutorials really helped me to break that learning curve and take my images to a whole new level. As someone who wants to convey that adventurous spirit through photography, nobody exemplifies that better than Max and these tutorials can help you get there. Detailed and easy to follow, not only will you learn a wide range of editing techniques, but also how to think creatively about your images to bring out mood, atmosphere, depth and most importantly, emotion.
I have bought several videos from Max Rive, mainly to understand his workflow. He uses a very simple way of using layers in photoshop, but at the same time, very powerful. He explains very well the logic of light and some pretty nice tricks to really enhance your landscape images. If you are a landscape photographer, I recommend 100% any of the video tutorials of Max, it opens a new way of processing your images in very powerful and artistic ways.
I recommend those who are looking to improve their photography, by learning how to properly focus stack, create lighting through dodging and burning, create depth through separation and establishing an impactful scene overall, to check out Max's tutorials. You will not be disapointed.
I met Max Rive photography on Instagram and I was immediately struck by the spectacular use of colors in his landscapes, the natural elements come to life and come out of the photo as if they were real. I immediately decided to buy his videos "Green Paradise" and "The White Mountain" to learn from him and increase my experience. I was impressed and conquered. My post-production has improved thanks to his advice and his ultimate color techiniques, focus stacking and color painting. Every video is absolutely stunning and easy to understand. Thanks Max for your wonderful work.
