Improvising the itinerary when the weather turns bad is something we are used to! We have locations which actually need cloudy weather. In case we are out camping and the weather doesn't allow any shooting conditions and the conditions are unlikely to change, alternative options will be considered such as post processing sessions and lodging in town.

We recommend packing all your essential camera gear in your hand luggage. Use some clothes for protection like a sweater, t-shirt and a down jacket. 

We recommend storing your camera on top of your hiking backpack. Wrap some clothes around it for extra protection. The same goes for lenses. With most backpacks your tripod can be mounted to the outside.
