Patagonia Summer Tour

You’ll be picked up from El Calafate Airport or your accommodation before meeting the group and beginning the three-hour drive to El Chaltén. There, you’ll meet the guide and porters supporting us during the first five days of the Patagonia Summer Photo Tour.

A backup apartment will remain available in case of extreme weather, with secure storage for non-essential luggage.

After a steady one-hour hike, we’ll reach our first base camp beside a beautiful lake overlooking Monte Fitz Roy. We’ll photograph sunset from the lake and a nearby waterfall, followed—if skies are clear—by an optional night shoot of the Milky Way above Fitz Roy.

Our first morning in the mountains promises to be unforgettable. We’ll photograph the first light illuminating Monte Fitz Roy from a special viewpoint near camp, where a winding river leads the eye toward the mountain.

After breakfast, a one-hour hike takes us to our second base camp, much closer to Fitz Roy. Over the following days, we’ll explore Laguna de los Tres, Laguna Sucia, a forest of dead trees, a secret viewpoint and several lesser-known compositions discovered through years of scouting. Optional night photography sessions are also possible, weather permitting.

After sunrise on Day 4, we’ll leave the Fitz Roy area and hike just over two hours toward Cerro Torre. The mostly flat trail passes through beautiful summer-green forests with impressive mountain views along the way.

Day 5 begins with another memorable sunrise shoot around Cerro Torre. Afterward, we’ll hike back to El Chaltén and check into our comfortable four-star accommodation, where you can enjoy a well-earned rest.

For sunset, we’ll drive to a panoramic location where Monte Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre can be photographed together, with a winding river creating a striking foreground. This is also one of the best opportunities during the tour to capture the landscape with a drone.

Of course, Day 6 begins with another sunrise shoot! The exact location will depend on the weather and the conditions we experienced the previous evening. Later, we’ll begin our journey toward Chile and Torres del Paine National Park.

Along the way, we’ll watch for guanacos, which are often seen roaming the open fields with Fitz Roy in the background—an excellent opportunity to use a telephoto lens and capture wildlife within the wider landscape.

From Days 7 to 9, we’ll explore the extraordinary landscapes of Torres del Paine in Chile. The hikes here are relatively short, yet they lead to spectacular views of steep granite peaks, lakes and wind-shaped forests.

Unlike the more enclosed mountain valleys of Argentina, Torres del Paine offers wide-open landscapes and unobstructed views toward the east. This creates the potential for some of the most dramatic sunrise light in Patagonia.

We’ll photograph a carefully selected mix of iconic viewpoints and unique compositions rarely visited by other tours. Between shoots, we’ll relax at our luxurious hotel, where Max will also be available for editing advice, image reviews and constructive critique sessions.

After our final sunrise shoot in Torres del Paine on Day 9, we’ll return to Argentina and check into our hotel in El Calafate. You can prepare for the following day’s flight—but don’t pack away your camera gear just yet!

On the morning of Day 10, we’ll visit the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier. Stretching approximately 30 kilometres—or 19 miles—this vast wall of ice is one of Patagonia’s most remarkable natural wonders. We’ll search for dramatic clouds, interesting details and creative compositions using the surrounding trees to frame the glacier.

After the shoot, we’ll return for breakfast and check out before transferring everyone to El Calafate Airport by 13:00 at the latest.
