Calling all adventure-loving photographers! Join Max Rive for an unforgettable six-day photography tour through the spectacular landscapes of Senja, Northern Norway.
Hike to breathtaking viewpoints overlooking dramatic fjords and iconic mountain peaks, camp in some of the island’s most beautiful locations, and photograph the midnight sun as it touches the horizon without ever setting. This is a true once-in-a-lifetime adventure into Norway’s raw and wild beauty.

Adventure of a lifetime!
Senja’s high viewpoints offer incredible views across the fjords, mountains and Norwegian Sea. Thanks to themidnight sun, golden light can last for hours. We’ll photograph iconic mountains such asSegla and Stetindenand stay at campsites with some of the best views in Norway.
Max has visited Senja many times and knows more than just the well-known viewpoints. He’ll show you hidden foregrounds, lesser-known perspectives and extra compositions that are easy to miss, helping you return home with the best possible images.
Max will guide every participant throughout Senja Photo Tour, helping you capture wide-angle fjord panoramas, find strong compositions around Segla and use focus stacking for the small white summer flowers.
We’ll stay at beautiful fjord-side campsites, with Max and Madee preparing meals between shoots. Hiking, photography and long evenings beneath the midnight sun will make this an experience you’ll never forget.

We’ll pick you up from Evenes Airport at around 11 AM. If you’re staying nearby, we can also arrange collection from your accommodation—just contact us for hotel recommendations.
From there, we begin a scenic three-hour drive through Northern Norway, surrounded by dramatic mountains and fjords. Once we arrive in Senja, we’ll hike to our first base camp beneath the iconic Segla Mountain. Your spacious two-person tent will already be set up for your private use.
After lunch overlooking the fjords, you can explore at your own pace or join Max in search of the best compositions around camp. Following dinner, we’ll hike to an incredible viewpoint above Segla and photograph the midnight sun as it touches the horizon before slowly rising again. At around 4 AM, we’ll return to camp for a well-earned rest.

After breakfast, we’ll pack up and move to our next base camp, stopping along the way at a local coffee shop.
Our new camp gives us access to two spectacular viewpoints. Tonight, we’ll hike to the higher one, located on one of Senja’s tallest mountains. The climb takes around two hours, but the reward is unforgettable: panoramic views across mountains, fjords and much of the island beneath the midnight sun.

Today, we head to our second viewpoint along one of the most enjoyable routes of the tour. The trail follows a spectacular ridgeline with fjords dropping away on both sides and beautiful views throughout the entire hike.
This route is more accessible than the previous day, giving us plenty of time to explore the ridge, refine our compositions and enjoy another unforgettable night of photography.

Today, we visit one of the most breathtaking fjord viewpoints in Norway. After a 30-minute drive—with time for coffee and a restroom stop—we begin an easy, one-hour hike to our final base camp.
Once camp is set up, another 40-minute hike takes us to the summit. From here, we’ll have endless possibilities for unique compositions overlooking the surrounding mountains and fjords. After photographing the midnight sun, we’ll return to our tents for a well-deserved sleep.

We leave Senja behind and enjoy a scenic three-hour drive to our hotel, with incredible views along the way. After checking in and enjoying a proper meal, we’ll head out for our final photography session at Stetinden—Norway’s national mountain.
We’ll photograph this iconic peak beneath the midnight sun, ending the adventure with one last memorable night in the field before returning to the comfort of our hotel.

After breakfast, we’ll drive back to Evenes Airport and make sure everyone arrives in time for their onward journey.
The tour may last only six days, but it will be packed with wild landscapes, unforgettable hikes and an incredible variety of photographs. The images and memories from this adventure will stay with you for many years to come.

In July, temperatures in Senja typically range from lows of around 8°C (46°F) to highs of 15°C (59°F). The weather can change quickly, so bring plenty of layers, including T-shirts, a warm mid-layer, a thin down jacket and a waterproof rain jacket. Please see the full kit list for more information.
During the Senja Tour, we’ll hike to our base camps and out to viewpoints above the fjords. A good level of fitness is recommended, and you should be comfortable hiking around 10 km / 6 mi on mostly flat terrain with a medium backpack.
You can find the exact distances and elevation differences for each hike in the complete tour PDF.
Yes, drone photography is possible at selected locations during the Senja Tour, weather and local restrictions permitting. You must follow Norwegian regulations, including operator registration, maintaining visual contact and staying below 120 metres.
Before each shoot, Max will brief the group on the location, possible compositions, weather conditions, and the gear and clothing to bring. Once there, you can explore independently or follow Max’s guidance as he shares composition ideas and helps with camera settings, focus stacking and other techniques.
Because we’ll be camping beneath the midnight sun, our shooting and sleeping times will remain flexible and depend on the light and weather. We’ll always make sure everyone has enough time to catch up on sleep between sessions. Since it never becomes completely dark, a comfortable sleeping mask is essential.
Yes, we plan to visit all the locations listed in the itinerary, along with several additional viewpoints, but Max will adjust the exact schedule based on the weather and light to give us the best photographic opportunities.
Senja’s locations can look completely different depending on the cloud cover, wind, visibility and midnight sun. Some viewpoints are at their best beneath dramatic skies, while others need clear conditions to reveal the mountains and fjords. With extensive experience photographing Senja, Max knows how to read the forecasts and choose the right location for the conditions each day.
Your most important lens will be a wide-angle, ideally covering somewhere between 10mm and 20mm. An ultra-wide lens in the 10–12mm range can be useful for dramatic foregrounds, but a 14mm or 16mm lens as your widest option will also work perfectly.
Your second choice should be a telephoto lens covering approximately 70–150mm, which is ideal for isolating distant mountain peaks and capturing details across the fjords.
You are also welcome to bring a drone for aerial photography.
