Don't miss out on the incredible Lofoten and Northern Norway Photography tour - visiting both the Lofoten, Senja, Northern Norway and Stetinden! This is the only photography tour in Northern Norway concentrating on the BEST photography spots rather than staying in the same small area in Lofoten. We will of course also photograph the incredible Northern Lights and the aurora while resting in luxurious apartments.

HIGHLIGHTS
Itinerary
Image
Day 1 - 4

We will pick you up from the airport or any accommodation nearby in case you arrived the day prior. We strongly recommend arriving a day before. After saying hi to each other we will start the beautiful drive to the Lofoten Islands. After check in we will start our first photography session in the Lofoten Islands. We will shoot a pointy white mountain with some incredible ice patterns as foreground objects - created by freezing temperatures and the change of the tides.

During the night and the nights following in the Lofoten Islands, we will concentrate on the Northern lights aka the Aurora. We will use the aurora and the weather forecast to maximize our changes of Northern Lights. Not only is the strength and change of Northern lights important - the location and composition are just as important to come back with something stunning. The more we are able to shoot during the night, the more rest we will catch up during the day.

Other subjects we will shoot is the beautiful Olstinden from different angles. One from the shoreline with incredible ice-patterns and one from higher. The higher spot does require a very small but uphill hike (15 min). This hike is optional and there are other great alternatives. We will also shoot the classic Hamnoy view, Skagsanden beach and some hidden gems in the Lofoten Islands! For lunch and dinner you can make food in the apartment. We will visit a restaurant for lunch and dinner - but since most restaurants are closed the menu is limited. !

Day 4 - 6

After our incredible time in the Lofoten Islands, it is time to drive to our next location further north. This location will focus on the mountain Otertiden. A mountain with a beautiful pointy shape and multiple peaks. The drive will take around 7 hours - but don't be worried - it will be a beautiful route with many stops. We will also have lunch along the way. We will organize the departure time in a way we will be able to shoot the mountain for sunset. We will return to Otertinden during the night for the Northern lights - and for sunrise. There is direct access to the frozen river from multiple spots - allowing us to shoot the mountain from different angles.

On day 5 we will visit the Senja Islands to shoot the Segla mountain and other incredible spots. We can use our drone to reach some otherwise difficult to reach spots - capturing beautiful foregrounds. We have some alternative spots if you don't have a drone, but I highly recommend bringing one for this location alone!

Day 7 + 8

On days 7 and 8, Mount Stetinden will be explored and photographed. There is direct access from the parking - making it possible to shoot without any hiking. If you want you can explore the forest near the parking lot there are often incredible icicles in this area. Of course Stetinden will also be photographed during the Northern Lights and the morning for sunrise! - maximizing our chances of getting something special here. On day 8 we will do one more sunrise shoot - followed by a drop off at Harstad Narvik Evenes Airport (EVE) at no later than 1pm.

FAQ

What physical fitness is required?

This tour has almost no hiking. There is one hike of around 15 min uphill - but this is optional and we will split the group among the guides. All other spots can be directly access from the parking. There is freedom to explore each spot and area.

What lenses should I bring to Northern Norway?

We recommend to bring a wide angle, and a mid-range. Wide angle is most important.

What will the weather be like?

The weather and temps will vary in the locations we will visit. It can be above freezing during daytime - especially in the Lofoten Islands, where the temps are higher due to the warm gulfstream. The Otertinden and Stetinden locations are colder. Apart from the differences on each location the temps can also vary by 10 degrees Celsius due the weather. Therefore I recommend packing for temps around minus 12 Celsius in the night and plus 5 during daytime. See the packing list page in this pdf for clothing requirements.

Will we shoot the northern lights?

It is a great time to shoot the Northern Lights in 2027 because of the 11-year cycle - it is now around its peak - meaning a bigger chance of high activity levels. We will aim EACH night to shoot the Northern Lights if both weather and the Northern Lights allow it. All northern light shootings are optional - meaning you can decide to skip as many or as little night shootings as you want. A typical Northern lights session will start after dinner - driving out at around 8pm. In case there is no chance of northern lights around that time - I will keep an eye out and in case they still appear will update the group for a pickup time.

What is the accommodation like?

We will stay in modern apartments. This allows us to make our own food. We will visit a simple restaurant for lunch options during our drives and on one day in the Lofoten for both lunch and dinner. The options are typically limited to burgers (also vegetarian/vegan) soup and fish.
